BOB A. MONZINGO, BORN July 14, 1937 in Hollis, OK. Raised in Fort Worth, TX and grew up in the USN. Joined the Navy June 1956 and retired March 1975. Served on two heavy cruisers, two destroyers, Comfirst Flight staff, COMPHIBRON one staff, recruiting duty "Indiana," SERE instructor, manager CPO mess open, NASNI.

The chief went in-country Vietnam from May 1968 to July 1970. Assigned to RIVSEC 544/RIVDIV 593, COMNAFORV and RIVDIV 535 as a patrol officer. He made 426 combat patrols and over 100 firefights. The first to use ambush/waterborne guard post tactics.

Awarded two Silver Star Medals, five Bronze Stars w/Combat V, Navy Commendation w/Combat V, Army Commendation w/V for Valor, Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, China Service Medal, threeGood Conduct Medals, two Presidential Unit Citations, two Navy Unit Commendations, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal (11 campaigns), NDSM, Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation, Civil Actions Medal First Class color w/Palm, Expert Rifle, RVN Gallantry Cross w/Silver Star, RVN Gallantry Cross w/Bronze Star, both for Valor, Small Craft Insigna and Naval Parachutist.
